Lianying CAO obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Forestry University in 1998, a Master of Science degree in Fundamental Mathematics from Harbin University of Science and Technology in March 2001, and a Doctor of Engineering degree in Wood Science and Technology from Northeast Forestry University in June 2013. She is currently a Professor at the College of Science, Northeast Forestry University, Academic Leader of the secondary discipline of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, and Person-in-Charge of the Statistical Model Application research direction of Applied Statistics. She also serves as a Standing Director of the Multivariate Analysis and Application Committee of the Chinese Society for Field Statistics, a Director of the Heilongjiang Mathematical Society, and a Director of the Heilongjiang Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Her primary research interests cover parametric and semi-parametric estimation, data analysis, and biodynamic models. She has published more than 30 academic papers, one monograph and three textbooks. She has presided over and participated in 2 Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities projects, 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, and 1 project of the State Forestry Administration. She has also presided over 1 Heilongjiang Provincial Higher Education Teaching Reform Project. She has guided students to participate in major competitions including the Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) and the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition. Her students have won 2 Outstanding Winner Awards, 6 First Prizes and 12 Second Prizes in MCM/ICM, 6 National Second Prizes and more than 50 provincial-level awards. She has been honored as an Excellent Instructor in the Heilongjiang Division of the National College Student Mathematics Competition (Non-mathematics Majors) and received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Higher Education Department of Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department for outstanding performance in national mathematical modeling competitions. Additionally, she has been awarded numerous honors including the Top Ten Graduate Supervisors and Excellent Graduate Practice Supervisors of Northeast Forestry University, as well as multiple awards for outstanding graduate and undergraduate teaching quality.
