Ecology (Program Code: 071300)
This program introduces UoA's leading international faculty, course resources, and up-to-date training schemes, and is dedicated to cultivating students' solid grounding in the fundamental theories, systematic knowledge, and essential skills of ecology, together with strong capacities for scientific thinking and innovation. The master's direction in Ecology at UoA focuses on professional knowledge and practical skills in the ecological field, covering core knowledge systems and professional competencies including plant ecology, ecosystem ecology, global change ecology, and restoration ecology. Through the joint training provided by UoA and NEFU, upon completion of the prescribed compulsory and elective courses, graduates may pursue teaching and research careers at research institutions or universities, or engage in ecological conservation, environmental management, technology development, and related work at government environmental protection departments, nature reserves, environmental protection enterprises, and other organizations.
Landscape Architecture (Program Code: 086200)
This program introduces the advanced educational philosophy, teaching models, high-caliber faculty, and quality course resources of UoA's School of Engineering and Design in the fields of architecture, urban design, and urban planning, cultivating versatile landscape architecture professionals who combine the disciplinary heritage of NEFU's landscape architecture program with an international perspective. The program aligns with UoA's master's degrees in Architecture, Urban Design, and Urban Planning. Its training scheme is characterized by “international standards + localized practice,” embedding local topics such as urban biodiversity, water resource management, and urban regeneration into the UoA architecture and planning curriculum. Course design incorporates emerging technology modules such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, and attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' research capabilities, preparing graduates for employment with enterprises, public institutions, and government administrative departments in the fields of landscape architecture planning and design, territorial spatial planning, ecological restoration, and urban–rural environmental development.
Transportation (Program Code: 086100)
This program is jointly conducted by NEFU and UoA. Drawing on the respective strengths of both parties and introducing the foreign partner's advanced educational philosophy, quality faculty, and course resources, it responds to the needs of building China into a transportation power and to industry development requirements, cultivating interdisciplinary talent with solid professional foundations, an international vision, and innovative practical capabilities. The program highlights the distinctive orientation of “smart, green, safe, and efficient” development and emphasizes the integration of theory with engineering practice, enabling students to master the knowledge and methods of transportation planning, operation organization, intelligent traffic control, and facility management. The courses offered by the foreign partner stress industry demand and engineering application, covering transportation planning, transportation safety and resilience, optimized road design, data science analytics, and infrastructure asset management. Students shall complete the prescribed courses, practical training, and degree thesis in accordance with the training schemes jointly formulated by both parties, thereby strengthening their capabilities in systematic analysis, scheme design, technological innovation, engineering management, and cross-cultural collaboration. Graduates may pursue planning and design, operation management, technology research and development, and related work at transportation administrative departments, planning and design institutes, research institutions, and operation enterprises.
Biology and Medicine (Program Code: 086000)
This program introduces UoA's advanced educational philosophy, teaching models, high-caliber faculty, and quality course resources, with the aim of equipping students with solid fundamental theories in biomedicine, systematic professional knowledge, and experimental and research skills, as well as strong capabilities in practical application, technological innovation, and professional technical work. The foreign partner's training relies on the education and research resources of UoA in the field of biomedical science, emphasizing interdisciplinary integration and a research-oriented approach, and provides students with systematic research training and academic guidance. The courses introduced from the foreign partner and delivered during the overseas study phase include Microbiomes, Advanced Methods in Cell Physiology, Molecular Mechanisms of the Cell, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Plant Genomes and Gene Expression, Form, Function and Design of Molecules, and Plant–Microbe Interactions. Students shall complete the prescribed courses and training components in accordance with the training scheme jointly formulated by both parties, laying a solid foundation for careers in scientific research, technology development, and management at biomedicine-related enterprises, research institutions, industry organizations, and government departments.
The domestic location of study is the Hainan International College of Northeast Forestry University (Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, No. 1 Boxue Avenue, Lingshui Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province). The domestic tuition fee is RMB 80,000 per student per academic year.
The overseas location of study is the University of Auckland (UoA), located in Auckland, New Zealand. Upon commencement of study abroad, tuition shall be charged in accordance with UoA's fee schedule for the year concerned: approximately NZD 58,258 per student per year. Specific charges shall be subject to the foreign program and courses undertaken by the student and the credits registered. No domestic tuition shall be charged after commencement of study abroad.

This institution is jointly established and operated by NEFU and UoA, two high-caliber universities. It integrates the teaching and research resources of both universities and aligns with both Chinese and international curricula, enabling students to benefit from the quality education of both institutions and to hold competitive advantages at home and abroad in both further study and career development.
Supported by the Pilot Zone — Sharing Well-Established Educational Facilities
Relying on the core philosophy of “Broad Sharing + Compact Colleges” of the Hainan Lingshui Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone, the institution aggregates the quality resources of both universities and the Pilot Zone. Through the “Broad Sharing” platform, it implements the “Five Mutuals and One Joint” model — mutual learning between Chinese and foreign parties, interdisciplinary integration, interoperability between liberal arts and sciences, mutual course selection, mutual credit recognition, and joint consultation on governance — and shares comprehensive public educational facilities and supporting services.
Dual Supervision — Safeguarding Dual-Degree Postgraduate Training
A dual-supervisor system is adopted, under which NEFU and UoA each appoints one supervisor to jointly direct postgraduate coursework and thesis research. Subject to satisfying the graduation requirements and degree-conferral standards of both institutions, students may be awarded simultaneously the master's degree of NEFU and the corresponding master's degree of UoA.
Joint Governance — Implementing Dual Chinese–Foreign Quality Standards
The institution strictly implements the talent training programs and syllabi jointly formulated by the Chinese and foreign parties. Across all programs, courses introduced from the partner university and core professional courses are delivered such that both the number of core courses taught by foreign faculty and the corresponding teaching hours account for more than one third of their respective totals. The institution will strictly implement the teaching quality assurance standards for regular higher education institutions promulgated by the Chinese Government and the higher education quality standards framework established by the Government of New Zealand, so as to ensure the quality of talent cultivation.
English Empowerment — Multidimensional Enhancement of Language Proficiency
The institution offers distinctive academic English courses in lieu of the postgraduate public foreign language module. The teaching team comprises dedicated academic English instructors of both Chinese and international backgrounds, and instruction is delivered continuously throughout the first academic year, systematically developing students' comprehensive academic English proficiency across five dimensions: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and technical writing. Upon completion of the domestic phase of study, students may take the program's Direct English Pathway (DEP) examination; those who achieve an overall score of 70 or above (with no individual component below 65) shall meet the English language entry requirements of the foreign university (UoA requires IELTS 6.5 or above with a writing score of no less than 6.0, or TOEFL iBT with a total score of 90 or above and a writing score of no less than 21).
(Note: The English language requirements of UoA degree programs shall be subject to the information published on the official UoA website for the year concerned. Study in New Zealand is subject to the student visa requirements of the competent New Zealand immigration authority, and the regulations in force at the relevant time shall prevail.)
Research Collaboration — An Innovative Transnational Joint Training System
The institution deepens multidisciplinary international research collaboration with overseas universities including the University of Technology Sydney (Australia) and James Cook University (Australia), and jointly builds international joint laboratory platforms to promote the translation of cutting-edge research outcomes and the deep integration of industry, academia, and research. Meanwhile, the cross-border talent cultivation mechanism is being refined and joint doctoral training is being connected, so as to establish a transnational system of joint education and collaborative innovation.
Comprehensive Facilities — Intelligent Support for Experimental Teaching
The teaching facilities of Hainan Aulin College consist of the shared facilities of the Li'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone and the College's dedicated teaching and research facilities (the dedicated building is expected to commence operation in 2028). The teaching and office building is located at the Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education Teaching Practice Center of NEFU. The dedicated building serves the programs in Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Transportation, and Biology and Medicine, providing spaces for ecological monitoring, digital landscape design, traffic simulation, and biological analysis, with practical teaching conducted in reliance on the tropical coastal environment of Lingshui. The academic lecture hall, various smart classrooms, and the independently developed Cloud Campus support resource delivery, interactive learning, autonomous online learning, Sino-foreign collaborative teaching, and blended online–offline instruction, and are integrated with the specialized experimental spaces to provide safeguards for professional practice and joint teaching
