On the morning of November 12, 2025, Professor Tim Sercombe, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Western Australia, led a delegation to visit the Lingshui Li’an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone and held a cooperation negotiation meeting with Hainan International College of Northeast Forestry University. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the application for Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions, faculty deployment, joint curriculum development and laboratory construction. They also carried out pragmatic discussions on promoting scientific research cooperation in engineering disciplines to jointly chart future cooperation plans.
The meeting was presided over by Liu Zhiming, Dean of Hainan International College, Northeast Forestry University. Dean Liu extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Western Australia and introduced the overall development plan and international education positioning of the college. He emphasized that the college attaches great importance to cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Western Australia, and looks forward to conducting multi-level talent training and scientific research collaboration in engineering fields to jointly serve the development needs of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Professor Sercombe expressed gratitude for the college’s hospitality and spoke highly of the high-standard planning and construction of the pilot zone. He stated that the Faculty of Engineering is willing to cooperate with Hainan International College to advance curriculum alignment, joint laboratory construction and faculty exchanges, explore a distinctive cooperative education model tailored to the strengths of both universities, and deliver high-quality international education experiences for students.
Following the meeting, accompanied by college administrators, the delegation toured a range of teaching and supporting facilities on campus, including the library, public teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, faculty apartments, student dormitories and the comprehensive sports center. The visit enabled the delegation to gain further insights into the educational environment and development potential of the pilot zone.
Hainan International College of Northeast Forestry University is committed to advancing educational internationalization through in-depth high-level global cooperation.
