On May 15, the Northeast Forestry University Hainan International College was officially inaugurated in the Lingshui Li 'an International Education Innovation Pilot Zone in Hainan, marking a new chapter in the school's operation in Hainan and an important step forward in its progress towards becoming a world-class forestry university with Chinese characteristics.

Northeast Forestry University Hainan International College is a secondary college of Northeast Forestry University with a teaching and research nature, and it will also be another important window and platform for international exchanges of the university. Relying on the geographical, resource and policy advantages of Hainan Province and the professional strengths of Northeast Forestry University in smart forestry, ecology, information industry, "dual carbon" and carbon sink economy, as well as the university's one-to-many high-quality educational resources of overseas universities, the college will play a strategic fulcrum role to serve the national development strategy and boost the development of the free trade port with Chinese characteristics. It is also an important measure for the school to serve Hainan Province's "Three Zones and One Center" and anchor the strategic framework of "one Book, Three Bases, Four Beams and Eight pillars". With Hainan International College as the foundation, the school will accelerate the pace of international talent cultivation through the integrated construction of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions, Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and overseas learning centers. Hainan International College will build international joint research institutes, create high-level research platforms, gather top research forces at home and abroad, establish cross-disciplinary and cross-field research teams, and carry out cutting-edge scientific research. Andrew Robertson, an academician of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of the Olin Joint Research Institute, said in his speech that the establishment of Donglin Hainan International College marks a new step forward for Donglin in Sino-foreign educational cooperation and international exchanges and cooperation. He will work together with Donglin to provide a broader perspective for teachers and students and help achieve fruitful results in international scientific research cooperation.

He said that Donglin Hainan International College will become a new calling card for the education sector in Hainan and even the whole country.
