Zhiming LIU , Ph.D. in Engineering, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He is a member of the Chemical Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, and serves as an editorial board member of Biomass Chemical Engineering and Chinese Wild Plant Resources.
He has received 1 Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award issued by the Ministry of Education and 2 Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. He has published 202 academic papers in domestic and international journals including Cellulose Chemistry and Technology, RSC Advances, Industrial Crops and Products, Journal of Wood Chemistry and Technology, Wood and Fiber Science, Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, International Journal of Polymer Science, Functional Materials, and Cellulose Science and Technology. He has authored 7 monographs and 4 textbooks, including contributing to Fibre Chemistry and Technology (ISBN 978-952-5216-41-7), published by the Finnish Paper Engineers’ Association in 2011. Fourteen invention patents have been granted to him. He has delivered keynote speeches at multiple international conferences.
He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Fundamentals of Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, Academic English, and Chemical Preparation Technology of Biomass Materials. He has presided over 16 research projects funded at national, provincial and ministerial levels as well as international cooperative research programs.
He conducted research visits at FPInnovations, Canada in 2002 and the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Åbo Akademi University, Finland in 2008. His research focuses on natural polymer materials including nanocellulose and lignin, as well as biomass material chemistry.
From September 2010 to August 2011, he was seconded to serve as Deputy Party Secretary of the People’s Government of Jishi Town, Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province. He previously held the positions of Program Director of Materials Chemistry and Assistant Dean in the College of Materials Science and Engineering, as well as Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office. He was appointed Dean of Aulin College, Northeast Forestry University in May 2019, and has served as Dean of Hainan International College, Northeast Forestry University since May 2024.
